Bundesrepublik Deutschland- Ludwig 1261106501145

Nation: Germany

Personal Name: Ludwig

Gender: Male

Birthday: June 8, 1815

Outward Age: 20

Sexual Orientation: Homosexual

Canon/Custom: Canon
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Height: 5' 10"

Weight: 170 lbs.

Physical Description: Ludwig is not a small man. He is five feet, ten inches tall, two more inches taller than his brother, which he has always secretly taken pride in. His eyes are a sharp blue that seem to get more intense in the heat of battle. His hair is a light cornstalk blond, always kept in a neat, slicked back style as Ludwig hates anything obscuring his vision including his hair. He is not exactly tan, but compared to Gilbert's almost ghostly skin, he looks more so than normal.

Normally, he will dress in casual clothing unless in a meeting of some sort or at work. Underneath anything he wears is a black tank top, and the Iron Cross Gilbert gave to him. On his chest, just above his heart is a faint scar from the construction, and demolition of the Berlin Wall. Over his right thigh is another scar from another battle lost, although most people never manage to see these unless they can persuade Ludwig to get naked.

Ludwig's palms are rough from handling artillery, and training. His hands have small, almost unnoticeable scratches from handling his guns, and occasionally knives so much. A third scar can be found on his shoulder from back when he was simply the German Confederation, and was training with Prussia to become a country of his own one day. Yet another scar is right under his jaw, almost as if someone had tried to cut Ludwig's throat open. Unfortunately he doesn't remember where this one came from, only that it's there.

Not liking to leave himself open, Ludwig keeps a stoic face most of the time, only showing his emotions around those he truly trusts. A genuine laugh from him is a rarity also, as he is not one to understand most jokes or even have very much of a sense of humor. Again, once in a while that side of him will reveal itself only when someone he can trust, and cares about is around him. But normally, the blond goes around with what seems like an eternal scowl on his face, as if daring someone to pick a fight with him.

Ludwig likes to make everything about his appearance look perfect while in public. Especially while at meetings, never letting a single thing be left out of place.

Strengths:

Strength: Ludwig has been through a lot even if he is technically, much younger than the other nations who surround him constantly. He is very strong both physically and mentally, and will do almost anything to prove it.

Fighting: Ludwig has and always will be a soldier at heart. He follows his orders to a tee, accepting failure from no one, including himself. Weather it be with a gun or a sword, Ludwig knows his way around weapons and is a fierce force to be reckoned with in battle.

Commanding: Being the military man that he is, it's no surprise that one of Ludwig's greatest strengths is giving orders. Always quick and to the point, if he wants something done, he will make sure it happens.

Loyalty: A great ally to have, Ludwig is loyal to those who are loyal to him. He will help his friends and allies in a heartbeat, especially the ones who have stuck with him through the worst of times. Although, those are hard to come by.

Willpower: Ludwig's will knows almost no bounds. If there is even a slim chance of victory in his sights he will go for it. He is always ready to take on anything that gets in the way of something he wants and will fight to the end for it.

Brains: If there is one thing that Ludwig is not, that is a muscle-head with no intelligence. Quite the contrary, he is very bright and knows how to use his knowledge wisely for the most part. Although he is much younger than most of the other nations, Ludwig's mind more than makes up for his age.

Weaknesses:

Short Temper: Ludwig's temper is not the greatest. Combined with his stress, and everyone he has to deal with constantly, his short fuse manages to get even shorter. Usually by the end of the day, he has made a few outbursts that he regrets.

Loyalty: While loyalty is a great strength, it is also a weakness. Ludwig's obedience could lead to his downfall. One order from his boss could destroy him, and sadly, Ludwig would follow that order without question, even with this knowledge.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: Yes, Ludwig is obsessive compulsive, honestly no surprise with how clean, and neat he keeps everything on a daily basis. Order is one of Ludwig's only grip to his sanity, what with the chaos constantly surrounding him. If one thing is out of place, he instantly knows. The major downside to this being that he tends to annoy people with his prim and proper habits.

Speaking His Mind: While he is wonderful with negotiations and battle statistics, speaking about what he is truly thinking is not one of Ludwig's strong points. It's hard for him to form the words he wants and usually it comes out wrong. He prefers to keep his mouth shut and his thoughts to himself.

Aggression: Ludwig has and always will be an aggressive person. He likes to hide the fact that he has a soft spot on the inside, seeing that as something he can only share with those closest to him. So to make up for it, he acts a bit more strict than he should.

Fears:

Abandonment: Ludwig is terrified of being left behind, the fear most likely coming from when Prussia was taken from him to the other side of the Berlin wall. He tries desperately to hang on to what few friends he has, he doesn't want to go back to that time when he was alone again.

Failure: Quite honestly, this is Ludwig's greatest fear. He knows from experience that failure never leads to good results. Therefore, failure is not an option until he is completely, and totally crushed until he can truly no longer fight anymore. He would rather die fighting than fail.

The Unknown: With Ludwig being the way he is, it's not a surprise that unfamiliar territory scares him. Before he jumps into anything, he needs to know what he's getting himself into, especially after past experiences. He needs to think about the situation and its consequences before he makes a move.

Disappointment: Ever since he was nothing more than the German Confederation, Ludwig has always been afraid of disappointing the ones who expect so much of him. He tries to make himself as perfect as possible so he won't have to hear the words "You've disappointed me."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Overall Personality: Ludwig's personality is hard to determine to say the least. He is not the most open person in the world, almost never actually speaking his mind unless being forced to do so. Occasionally he will gain a bit of confidence to speak about his true feelings, but those moments are few and far between. Of course, confidence is a big issue with him. Not that he is not a confident man in general, but with his emotions, it's not his strong point.

It's not hard to make Ludwig blush. A well placed touch (even though it may land the unlucky person a nice punch to the face), an innuendo, even a suggestion that normally he wouldn't think of. Anything close to that will bring the blood rushing to his face in a matter of seconds. Ludwig hates blushing, especially when he is informed of such, but the poor man can't help it. He is very conserved, not daring to speak of anything of a sexual nature unless in the heat of the moment.

Just as anyone would expect from this intimidating looking nation, Ludwig is very serious when his work, country, people, or family are concerned. He will do almost anything to protect what he holds close, and will take anyone down who dares to threaten it. Even if his opponent is too strong, well, he can do his best to bring them down with him.

However, even though he can seem scary most of the time, Ludwig does have a soft spot that craves for attention. He wants to make everyone proud of him. Especially Prussia, the one who raised him from as far back as he can remember. A small sense of satisfaction passes through him when he receives praise from someone he doesn't expect, or looks up to, making it a victory inside for himself.

Ludwig hates being talked down to anytime during any occasion. As far as he is concerned, he can take care of himself, and is no longer the feeble nation who needed his big brother to chase away anyone who tried to take him. It's one of the small things that sets him off, made obvious by the way his voice seems to get harsher, and louder if they carry on. Not one to get too violent without proper reason, Ludwig tries to avoid anyone he knows who will do this to him while he is present. Unfortunately sometimes that just doesn't happen, and the person who is doing it should expect themselves to be thrown to the ground in the next few seconds.

Primary Relations: The most important relationship Germany has is with his brother, Prussia. Having been there from the moment he was named the "German Confederation" up until now, no one will be as tall as Gilbert in Germany's eyes. Even with the abolishment of Prussia's country by his own hand, Germany tries to rectify it, still regretting it to this day.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

History:
(962-1806): Germany was once known as the Holy Roman Empire. In 1448 it was officially called "Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation" as its territory had been reduced. The Holy Roman Empire absorbed North Italy and Burgandy. Later, the German princes of the land pushed their influence further East and South into Slavic areas. The Black Plague struck from 1348-1350, and the population plummeted. Warfare between Prussia and Austria became most of this county's history from 1740 onwards. Finally in 1806, the Holy Roman Empire was officially dissolved due to the Napoleonic Wars.

(1814-1871): The German Confederation was founded in 1814 after the fall of Napoleon. The Germans demanded unity and freedom, but were repressed by the Austrian statesman. The idea of nationalism became a large part of the people's thinking. The colors black, red, and gold were chosen to represent the nationalist movement, which later led it to become Germany's national colors. In 1866, Prussia's victory in the Austro-Prussian war led to the creation of the North German Confederation, and excluded Austria from the affairs of any other German states.

(1871-1918): Germany was officially unified as a nation-state in 1871, the unification was made of all scattered parts of Germany, once again excluding Austria. Starting in 1884, Germany began to establish colonies outside of Europe. Germany became extremely isolated, choosing not to renew any alliances with other nations other than Austria-Hungary. The assassination of Austria's prince brought on World War One. Germany, unfortunately was a part of the Central Powers, who suffered defeat at the hands of the Allied Powers, losing an estimated two million soldiers. Germany was forced to sign the Treaty of Versailles in 1919, which was seen to its citizens as a humiliating defeat. This treaty is often said to be what made Nazism rise in the country.

(1919-1933): Because of the harsh conditions of the Treat of Versailles, and the debt from the previous war, Germany suffered through a depression. This divided the country into right-wing Dolchstoßlegende: who believed that Germany had lost World War One due to those who wanted to over throw the government, and left-wing communist who wanted a capitalist rule. By 1932, the German Communist Party, and the Nazi Party ruled most of Parliament. On January 30th 1933, Paul von Hindenburg appointed Adolf Hitler as Chancellor of Germany.

(1933-1945): All legislative power was given to Hitler as part of an Enabling Act that had been passed. Within months, Hitler created a totalitarian state, crushing any resistance. In 1935 Germany gained control of the Saar, and military control of the Rhineland in 1936 both of which had been taken away due to the Treaty of Versailles. Taking control of Austria in 1938, and Czechoslovakia in 1939, Germany prepared for the invasion of Poland. The German Wehrmacht launched blitzkrieg on Poland, and it was occupied by Germany and the Red Army. War was declared on Germany by France and the UK, marking the beginning of World War Two. In 1941, Germany broke the Hitler-Stalin pact, and invaded the Soviet Union, the battle of Stalingrad marked the turning point of the war, forcing the German army to retreat. In 1943, Italy surrendered, joining the allies, and forcing Germany to defend the front in Italy. Germany was defeated on May 8th, 1945 when the German Army surrendered to the Red Army after it occupied Berlin. About seven million German soldiers and civilians died in Word War Two, and about seventeen million were murdered in the Holocaust.

(1945-1990): Germany was divided, France, the UK, and the US controlling the Western half, while the Soviet Union controlled the Eastern half. East Germany chose Berlin as it's capital, and West Germany temporarily chose Bonn, emphasizing that it was only temporary. West Germany joined NATO in 1955 and helped in the founding of the European Economic Community in 1957. A Soviet command economy was established on the Eastern side of the wall, East German propaganda were based on the benefits of a West German invasion. The Berlin Wall was built in 1961 to stop East Germans from making an escape to West Germany, and became a symbol of the Cold War. In 1989 Hungary decided to dismantle the Iron Curtain, allowing East Germans access to West Germany through Hungary. thousands of East Germans fled to the West via Hungary, causing the GDR to suffer greatly. On November 9th, 1989 the Berlin Wall officially opened, allowing East Germans into the West and escaping the GDR.
